Whether Oklahoma has enough rested pitching to match Kansas’s power. The Jayhawks were a top-20 home-run club all year and they’re fresh; the Sooners are riding belief and a closer who can’t throw three more innings every night. Oklahoma’s offense is real. Tockey and Lachance carried a five-game survival run. But Kansas hosting its first super regional with a lined-up rotation is the structural edge.
Kansas is the rested, rounder team and Hoglund will be the loudest it has ever been. Oklahoma is the hotter one, and a team that walks off the No. 2 overall seed has the nerve to win anywhere. The Jayhawks should advance. But the Sooners are exactly the kind of red-hot, unseeded SEC team that has ended host seasons before.
